9 Steps to Creating Boundaries before Spring

Using the February full snow moon, the last Full Moon before the spring equinox, we take advantage of a powerful time to pick up where we left off during January's Wolf Moon. The process of creating boundaries by incorporating elements of intention-setting, habit changes, and mindfulness we can use the richness of the moon's moment of full illumination to put some new practices in place.

  1. Gather Supplies: Collect items associated with the snow moon, such as white candles, crystals (like moonstone or clear quartz), and snow-related imagery, tea, paper, black pen.

  2. Create a Sacred Space: Locate where the moon is shining either inside or outside of your dwelling and create a quiet and comfortable space where you won't be disturbed near its light. Arrange your chosen items in a way that feels meaningful to you.

  3. Set Your Intentions: Be honest as you write about how you will benefit emotionally, spiritually, and energetically, by putting boundaries in place. This could be in relationships, work, or personal habits. For example, "Healthy boundaries help me protect my feelings and regulate my emotions and that is my intention"

  4. Envision the Power: Light the candles and focus on the flame or close your eyes and focus on its smell. Consider it a representation of your intentions. Fire is here to cleanse, illuminate, and provide comfort. Just as your boundaries will help you do. Envision a protective and empowering energy surrounding you.

  5. Speak Your Intentions Aloud: Verbalize all the intentions you've written clearly and confidently. Express gratitude for the strength and guidance to maintain these boundaries.

  6. Visualize and Feel the Boundaries: Close your eyes and visualize a boundary wall made of flowers, plants, and trees forming around you. Name that particular boundary wall "the wall of peace", "the wall of freedom". Make a name for each boundary you're putting in place. Allow each boundary wall the time to present itself in your mind's eye. Feel the strength and positivity of these boundaries, providing a sense of protection.

  7. Release and Let Go: Allow any negative energy or doubts you carry around why you need this boundary to dissolve into the flowers, plants, and trees as you breathe outward.

  8. Close the Ritual: When you have allowed all your new boundaries to be named, present themselves as a loving representation of nature and you've released any negativity associated with them, thank the moon and any spiritual guides or entities you believe in. Blow out the candles, symbolizing the completion of the ritual.

  9. Carry the Energy Forward: Be mindful of your boundaries in the days and weeks following the ritual. Use this practice as a reminder to prioritize self-care and maintain healthy limits.
